Teaching and learning

Stanthorpe State School’s experienced and highly motivated administrative team, consisting of a Principal, Head of Curriculum and Head of Special Education, leads a professional community of highly skilled educators. 
All staff have engaged in extensive levels of professional development, with 100% of our staff engaging in further learning each year.
Every student is important to us and we cater to the needs of all. Classroom teachers work with a team of professional educators and support staff, to bring out the very best in each and every child.
Our program delivery is further enhanced from the input of:
·    Specialist teaching staff - PE, Languages (Italian), Music and Instrumental Music
·    Guidance Officer
·    Chaplain
·    Advisory visiting teachers
·    A team of quality teacher aides and ancillary staff.
·    Therapists / Physiotherapists / Occupational Therapists / Speech & language pathologists
Preparatory Year
The ‘Prep’ Year is the first year of formal schooling and prepares the students in terms of literacy, numeracy, and social and emotional readiness for further learning.
In order to qualify for Prep, students must be 5 years of age by the 30th of June of the year they commence. Students commencement in their first year of school is assisted by parent/carer information sessions and Prep open days.
Information Communication Technologies
Technology and the use of computers by students prepares them for an ever     changing future. Stanthorpe State School provides ICT’s (information, communication & technologies) to allow students and staff to access and use information on the school network as well as the internet for the benefit of education.
Stanthorpe State School offers a diverse range of ICT Resources in daily use , including:
· Interactive whiteboards in all class rooms
· Digital microscopes, cameras and video cameras
· Laptops, iPods and iPads
